Our core service is design verification and certification. Our team has a deep understanding of Australian Standards such as AS4100, AS3990, AS1657, AS1664, AS4991, AS1576, AS1170, etc. and is, therefore, able to certify a wide range of mechanical and structural equipment. At Metis D&E, all designs are signed off by a Chartered Professional Engineer.

Engineers at Metis D&E are experts in Computational Analysis and more specifically in Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Using Midas NFX and Solidworks Simulation PRO, we can undertake a wide range of analyses to verify the structural integrity and fitness for purpose of your design.

Metis D&E has in-house capabilities in Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD). It allows us to assess fluid flow behaviour in accordance with its physical properties, such as density, viscosity, temperature, etc. We use this technology to assess and optimise the performance of an equipment or to determine the effect of the fluid flow on a component.

With engineers coming from different backgrounds, the team at Metis D&E can handle a wide range of complex mechanical design projects, from intricate through
to industrial. Our strength is our strong knowledge and experience in mechanical design, structural design and mechatronics that we combine with the latest engineering technology.

The team at Metis D&E has been actively involved in many design & build projects. We have practical experience working with fabrication workshops and all our designs have been successfully put through to manufacture. Based on our 3D models, we easily generate all the fabrication drawings required to manufacture your design. All our drawings comply with AS1100 specifications for Mechanical drafting.

Metis D&E is developing capabilities in DfAM to be at the forefront of this technology. We help our clients take advantage of the freedom it offers and develop components optimised for AM. Our capabilities include topology optimisation, lattice structures design, generative design and print simulation.

We are equipped for site measurement and can organise 3D laser scanning and material testing when required. We can then generate an accurate 3D model of all relevant components which can be used for stress analysis, importing into your own design or creating production drawings.

Metis Design & Engineering has in-house 3D scanning capabilities and owns a handheld Creaform GO!Scan 50 optical scanner. We use this technology to either create a detailed 3D model of a piece of equipment or simply use the reference scan geometry in our model to ensure equipment interferences are avoided.

Physical measurement such as strain gauging is often required to determine the actual load or vibration spectrum that a system is subject to. It is also useful to validate FEA results when required. Metis D&E has the expertise and the required equipment to undertake physical measurement of the most complex systems.

Metis D&E has in-house capabilities for prototype 3D printing. Our professional grade 3D printer can quickly produce high- quality prints in various material such as PLA, ABS, PET-G, Nylon with a resolution of 10microns and for a maximum print volume of 300x300x300.
